William A. Collet

William A. “Bill” Collet, the founding principal of Collet & Associates and was the co-founding principal of Christenberry Collet & Company, Inc., in 1994. He has more than 30 years of investment banking experience involving a diversity of financial advisory engagements including buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, public stock offerings, debt and equity financing and hostile takeover defense.

Over his career, Collet has increasingly focused his investment banking engagements in the energy and infrastructure arena, with a special focus on acquisition and financing transactions for electric cooperatives. Notable engagements include Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, Cloverland Electric’s acquisition of the Edison Sault Electric Company from Wisconsin Energy Corporation and numerous other cooperative territory and municipal utility acquisitions.

Transaction experience also includes financings, acquisitions and divestitures in gas and water utilities, power generation, oil and gas exploration, healthcare, basic manufacturing and industry consolidations. Litigation support activities include his recent leadership role in the successful Charter 11 reorganization of Brazos Electric.

Collet received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University and a master’s in business administration, with distinction, from Harvard Business School.

He has been a guest lecturer at the Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a guest columnist in several corporate finance and utility publications and has presented numerous breakout sessions at electric cooperative industry and state-wide conferences.

Mark Hellevang

Mark Hellevang is a senior associate at Collet & Associates, LLC, joining the firm at the time of its founding in 2009. Prior to Collet & Associates, he served as director of research at Christenberry Collet & Company, Inc., a Kansas City-based investment banking firm where he managed the firm’s research efforts in all areas including its energy and infrastructure practice.

Hellevang’s investment banking experience across multiple industries includes a wide variety of corporate finance engagements including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity fundraisings, fairness opinions and the corresponding financial, accounting, legal, tax and operations analysis required in these engagements.

In recent years, most of his time has been spent as an associate, research analyst or financial analyst in the regulated utility industry with a special emphasis on assisting electric cooperative utilities in the project financing and acquisition of service territories.

Hellevang earned his bachelor’s degree in business management and an MBA at the University of Wyoming.

Suzanne Shobe

Suzanne Shobe is the director of client services and production at Collet & Associates.

She has more than 25 years of experience providing client services in energy and utility transactions. She managed the administrative and document production functions of Collet & Associates’ predecessor firm including offering memorandums, client communications, board presentations and regulatory review requirements.

Prior to her work with Bill Collet, Shobe had a dozen years’ experience in a variety of administrative positions. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri State University.
